Description

The topic:

The Future Fund is Australia’s sovereign wealth fund, and was established in 2006 as a pension reserve to help offset the unfunded defined benefit pension liabilities of the Federal Government from 2020 onward. Our investment mandate requires us to generate a real return of approximately 5% over the long term while taking “acceptable but not excessive risk.” In our attempt to fulfil the mandate, we have developed an integrated investment process that flows directly from our interpretation of the mandate and our investment beliefs.

The speaker:

Nigel is a Strategist at the Future Fund. The Strategy team is responsible for macroeconomic and capital market analysis and forecasting, asset allocation and portfolio overlays. Nigel joined the Future Fund in 2010 from van Eyk Research where he was Head of Strategic Research. Prior to this he worked as a research fellow at both the University of Queensland and the Australian National University (ANU). He holds a PhD in Mathematics from the ANU.
